Mid-Michigan hunger profile

Each person living in poverty in the Capital area misses more than eight meals per week.*

  • In Ingham County alone, approximately 41,000 people live in poverty
  • 45% of mid-Michigan food bank recipients are under the age of 18; 12% are under the age of five
  • 40% of mid-Michigan families served by food banks have at least one employed adult
  • 31% must choose between paying for food and paying for medicine/medical care
